The Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service | Smithsonian Affiliations (SITES | Affiliations) creates connections between the Smithsonian and museums and other organizations across the country and beyond. We expand the reach and impact of the Smithsonian and our network of collaborators by widely sharing knowledge, resources, and expertise.

SITES | Affiliations includes three recognized and trusted programs, each allowing the Smithsonian to collaborate with different types of organizations, reaching various audiences and collectively increasing our impact.

Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service

SITES develops traveling exhibitions and supports learning and engagement for organizations of all sizes by providing resources to engage lifelong learners and teachers. SITES’ traditional exhibitions, along with build-it-yourself and poster exhibitions, attract 4.5 million visitors each year in communities across the nation and beyond. Learn more about SITES exhibitions here.

Smithsonian Affiliations

Smithsonian Affiliations maintains the Smithsonian’s long-term relationships with a network of more than 200 organizations in nearly every state, as well as Puerto Rico and Panama. Each year, an estimated 30 million visitors experience Smithsonian educational programs, exhibitions, and collections at their local Affiliate organizations. Museum on Main Street

MoMS works with state humanities councils and other partners to bring traveling exhibitions, educational resources, and programming to small towns across America. MoMS exhibitions and programs are designed to spark dialogues, facilitate connections, and open doors to a community’s history, culture, people, and sense of local pride. Learn more about MoMS here.
